The Audio Design Associates PTM-6150 is the sharpest looking ADA amplifier yet. It is available with rack mount or shelf mound cosmetics and features six vertical bar-graph power displays mounted behind a glass panel recessed into the center of the front panel of the amplifier. These is a switch to turn off the display to eliminate distractions it could cause in a darkened room. The chassis is constructed from 1_8 inch thick aluminum. It has single-ended RCA inputs only and receased female banana output connectors. Male double banana plugs are furnished for do-it-yourself wire termination. Inside there is a large single power supply with a 1500VA toroidal transformer and 250,000 micro Farad of capacitance feeding the MOSFET amplifier modules. This amplifier is biased very high-in fact, it runs full Class A up to 50 watts per channel! The cooling fan is acceptably quiet.

The THX certified PTM-6150 is an excellent value. It offers six powerful channels that sound very pleasant and musical. Detail is good. Soundstage imaging is well delineated at center. The sound is never harsh or offensive even on loud transients, which are often encountered on motion picture soundtracks. This amplifier makes for an excellent choice when reproducing power hungry soundtrack dynamics, while delivering a pleasing music listening experience. The overall soft musical sound of this amplifier makes it an especially good choice if your speakers are a little bit harsh or bright.
