CD Library Systems & The ADA Bus
Well
thanks to companies such as Escient and Gefen Systems, CD changer (library)
managment is not your concern anymore. These companies offer a computerized
CD library managment system which catagorizes albums, song lists, and favorite
play modes. But wait, there's more. Not only are albums, artistis, and song
names cross-referenced in dozens of different ways, when selected, the library
managament system automatically keys the CD changer to play that song.
Thus, by simply selecting the "Jazz" play mode, all of your
favorite jazz cuts are automatically qued to play in a random sequence.
You sit back and enjoy the music and let the system do the DJing for you.
Escient's Tune Base System and Gefen System's Touch The Music
also include scans of album covers side-by-sde with the song list of
that album. These computer pages can be brought up on touch screens and
even regular TVs. Now, when you brouse through your record collection, you
can do so from any room with a TV, flipping through record jackets and picking
out songs, and placing them on the record stacker...just like in the old
days.
With an ADA Bus System, access to your
CD library extends beyond the library systems mainframe and directly to
the ADA System's keypads. By simply pressing the CD button, you can change
favorite play modes, select albums, and pick out songs, without ever looking
at a computer screen or TV. Since the ADA Bus keypads provide two-way communication
and have an LED display, they will read-out, the name of the play mode,
name of the song, and name of the artist.
But wait, there's more. You can also use the ADA keypad, already in
the room for music system control, to also control the CD library system
when it is modulated onto TVs throughout the house. When in the kitchen,
simply turn your TV to the channel designated for the CD library system.
Up comes the main menu. Using the << and >> buttons on the ADA
Bus keypad, adavnce the on-screen cursor to the play mode you wish to engage
and then press >. Thus in a matter of seconds, you can engage a preprogrammed
selection of music, based on strictly on the mood you are in.
You can also use the >> and << buttons to activate the single-play
mode, where you pick and choose songs and albums at will. The screen will
bring up several album covers. Again, use the >> and << buttons
to high-light the album you want and select it by pressing the > button.
Now the TV shows the song list for that album and still displays the album
cover. Again, you can use the >> and<< buttons to pick out songs
or simply click on the album cover to play the whole thing. After you select
the first song, it will begin to play. You can then proceed to select other
songs from the same album or different albums. These selections will be
placed in a memory que and play in order. By the time the first song is
over, you can have programmed in hours of music.
