ADA - Here Comes Home Theater

By 1993, ADA had already developed a surround sound decoder and several multi-channel power amplifiers. Home theater, today's buzz word for consumer entertainment electronics, had its birth in the high-end market and as such, ADA played a big role in introducing products specifically for the re-creation of film sound tracks within the home.

In 1990, ADA's first surround sound decoder the SSD-66 received rave review for both its processing of Dolby Pro Logic signals and its musicality. During the late 1980's high end surround processors began making their way to the market place. These first units, while adequate for producing film sound, lacked the audio clarity required for playback of music software. The SSD-66 was designed to solve this problem and was engineered to mate with ADA's first multi-channel power amplifier, the MPA-6.

By 1992, working closely with engineers from Lucasfilm, the SSD-66THX was introduced along with the THX upgrade kit for the existing SSD-66. Also released in 1992, was the MPA-500 Five Channel THX Power Amplifier and the BPA-500 THX Bass Power Amplifier. Both amplifiers, certified by THX, combined to provide over 2.5 KiloWatts of power. The MPA-500 is still the most powerful multi-channel THX power amplifier ever built.

In early 1994, ADA began development on what would be one of its finest products, the PTM-6150 Six Channel THX Power Amplifier. Designed to provide the power and tonal qualities of its big brother, the MPA-500, the PTM-6150 was engineered to be the best market value for home theater. At its current price tag its a steal.

In late 1994, ADA began working with Dolby Laboratories on what would turn out to be the most important advancement to home theater since Dolby Pro Logic was introduced in 1989. Dolby Digital, also known as AC-3, was incorporated to the SSD-66 {now the SSD-66 (5.1)} in 1995. ADA was one of the world's first manufacturers to begin shipping Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoders. To date, several outstanding reviews have been written on the ADA's digital theater.

In 1995, ADA began an undertaking in cooperation with Digital Theater Systems, to include DTS decoding as part of its Digital Home Theater System. By the summer of 1996, ADA was the first manufacturer to begin shipments of its DTS-1 DTS Decoder. Capable of decoding both digital home formats, the SSD-66 (5.1) is one of the most flexible processors in the world. Best of all, for owners of ADA's first surround decoder, the SSD-66 (some as far back as 1989), they can select to upgrade to AC-3 and DTS further demonstrating ADA's posture of "obsolescence-free technology."

As ADA prepares to enter its third decade as the leading manufacturer of high-qualtiy consumer electroncis, its eye is toward the future of both home theater advancements as well as multi-room entertainment. With the introduction of the Delta Sytem (1994), the Millennium System (1995), and the Genesis System (1996), ADA has the products that are truly designed to fit any budget and life-style. For a comprehensive multi-room system, look to the system's leader, look to ADA.
